    November, 2013:

"Initially, coming in as a brand new teacher had me a little worried. I feared my performance wouldn't be up to par, or that I would have trouble making friends, or that I would be somewhat lost in a new country. Fortunately, I chose to begin my teaching career with Super English. Not only are the teachers warm and welcoming, but they also see to it that I am as prepared as I can be for every situation in the classroom. Furthermore, the Thai staff at Super English is comprised of some of the nicest people I have ever met. They were so kind to me and were more than willing to help me any time I needed them. I honestly felt like I was part of their family from day one!”   - Christel Chappell

“Super English is a wonderful place to develop, expand, and tune your teaching skills. You have lots of freedom and support to create who you are as teacher, while you work alongside an awesome team of hard-working, professional teachers. Teaching with Super English is truly one of the best jobs I have ever had. Not only is it is a great place to work, my coworkers are fun, the Thai food is delicious, and I am just a few hours away from tropical island paradise. SE is a great place to work if you are looking for an easy-going, close-knit community of teachers with whom you can explore Surat Thani, hang out after school, and travel.”   - Kristin Brown

“Moving overseas to teach for the first time, I found Super English to be an outstanding place to come and learn to teach and live abroad. Peter and the staff at SE offer great support for incoming teachers, with visa prep and an extensive website with info on everything you could possibly want to know about the job and Surat Thani in general. The support continues when you arrive with training and a close-knit community of teachers to help you get settled, find your niche, and start teaching those Thai kids. Surat is also a great place to live. It’s a nice Thai town with awesome food and it’s accessible to get anywhere else in Thailand. I’ve had a great time here and highly recommend it!”   - Eric Brown

"Not only did I choose Super English the first time around, but I decided to come back to them again. This place feels more like home to me than pretty much anywhere else I've lived. It's the whole package - the town is pleasant, the location is fantastic, the food is great, the people are friendly, and all that stuff that you've already heard a million times.  For me it comes down to two things - teaching the kids and the quality of life here. I can't really imagine any other place that would satisfy these two requirements any better."   - David Modini

“After spending a year teaching abroad in Korea, Thailand and Super English have been a breath of fresh air. I've been able to experiment with my teaching and classroom management in a way that's allowed me to really find who I am as a teacher. SE has given me the flexibility to run my classroom the way I see fit, as well as the opportunity to develop a close relationship with my students and really feel a sense of pride about what I do in class on a daily basis. I've really enjoyed my time here and it's my plan spend a lot more doing just the same.“   - Jade Church

"Working at Thidamaepra has been one of the best experiences of my professional life. My Thai teachers and Super English co-workers are extremely helpful. While I am switching between topics in a lesson, Teacher Pen keeps drilling the students on the topic we just finished until I have finished preparing the board. It might just be thirty seconds, but it makes a huge difference. My co-workers make themselves very available for advice, any questions, and even a lunch or coffee buddy. Working there is a pleasure."   - Susan Devore

"After living in Surat Thani for almost a year and making multiple friends outside of Super English, I have come to the realization that we have it pretty great.  Most other schools do not have as much time off as we do, and they have way more paperwork.  Being at Super English allows us the freedom for more planning, more traveling, and more fun."   - Catherine Tucker

"Before coming to work for Super English, I had no teaching experience. Turns out, it's the first job I've pretty consistently enjoyed...ever. I have grown as a person and a teacher exponentially since my employment and because of this, new doors have opened. I was planning on only traveling and teaching this year, but as I've found I enjoy it so much, I'm planning to continue in Asia and maybe other parts of the world!"   - Devin Geddings

“During my short yet meaningful experience in the past 5 months. I can happily look back on my decision and believe that I made the right choice coming to Surat to work for Super English and Thidamaepra. The job is very rewarding and the kids are very sweet. Super English has allowed me ease of mind during the entire hiring process and has provided support when needed. On top of that, Surat is a very great place to live. Living in the city allows for you to go on a food journey in search of the next best restaurant or dish as well as allows ease of access to nearby gems such as Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi, and, my favorite, Railay. I couldn't have asked for a better situation :)”   - Ashley Walker

“Super English has a family oriented working environment.  People who work at Super care about one another.  This is a very important aspect to look for when choosing a place to work abroad.”  - Brandi Elmore

“I've been working for Super English for about six months now.  The choice to teach in Thailand is one of the best decisions I have ever made.  It was a little anxiety provoking since this was my first time living and teaching abroad; however, the supportive staff at Super English helped to make the transition smooth.  I love the school where I teach, I love my adorable students, I have made new friends in Thailand, and I make enough to travel to beautiful exotic islands on the weekends.  In addition, I’m building valuable transferrable skills for whatever I decide to do next.  I am very happy here, and the experience is indescribable.  To anyone considering this opportunity, I strongly recommend it.”   - Andrea Taylor

“Working with Super English gave me the opportunity to have a job I can be proud of. I get to come into work and basically deal with second grade customers. Back home the only jobs available to me were retail/food service type jobs. Coming here makes my degree feel worthwhile and gives me the experience I wasn’t able to acquire back home, at least not right now. And instead of waiting for things to get better, I am able to still continue forward with gaining experience.  Living in Thailand has been one of those experiences where you know while it’s happening that you’ll look back on in the future. It hasn’t been perfect but it has been great so far. Coming here through Super English introduced me to cool people that I have become instant friends with, gave me a home and has helped me through any weird/language barrier created situation you could think of from medical to broken down motorbikes.  Working here has given me the experience and purpose I was looking for. I get a rewarding job that feels great coming into and the adventures of travel. After adjusting and figuring things out this experience will be one that will never be forgotten and I really believe that is an understatement.”   - Krystal Masinter

"If you are on the fence about moving abroad... hurry up and just fall off onto the Asian side. This experience will make you grow for the better in ways you don't even realize until the changes have taken place. Not to say that it is cake all the time, but to know that I can walk into work every day and see thousands of smiling and genuinely happy children makes the worst of days better. Don't get me wrong, this is still a job, but the most rewarding job I have ever worked.  As far as SE goes, we are fully supported will materials and left alone after training to do our thing. If you are a team oriented individual, even better because we work closely with each other and there's always friends to bounce ideas off of. From the visa process to the monthly SE staff parties we are well taken care of which is more than most teachers in Thailand can say."   - Stuart Ziegler

“Surat, the town in which Super English is located, is quite the 'happy medium'. It's not big enough to be big, not small enough to be small, not boring enough to be boring, and not exciting enough to be dangerous. It has enough Thai English speakers / western amenities to be comfortable while still maintaining enough traditional culture to give one the true feeling of Thailand. I've spent a considerable amount of time in other areas of the country, and I'd rank this city as one of the best suited for first time expats.”   - Tom Nohejl

“When I began looking for a teaching job, a slight anxiety whispered, "But I'm not a teacher- I don't know how to teach!"  Finding this job with Super English was crucial in silencing that voice. Here, you are given guidance and then freedom to learn through your experiences in the classroom. I was relieved to find that there was no pressure to be perfect from day one, and no stress of being critiqued in the classroom! Super English instead has provided a relaxed and open learning environment for its new teachers.”   - Amanda Hamp

“When I first moved to Surat it seemed like an ordinary, medium-sized Thai city. After spending the past year here I have grown quite fond of my new home for two main reasons: the food and the travel-ability.  The food in Surat is hands down the best I have had in Thailand. There are so many small little places to check out and it’s almost always super cheap. The quality is better than that of Bangkok or any of the islands. The second reason I love living in Surat is it makes traveling around the country so easy. Most of the popular islands are only a few hours away by bus and boat. There are several friendly travel agencies in downtown Surat and if they can’t help you directly they will find the person that can. Surat is also a relatively central location in Thailand, so getting up north to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and beyond is only an overnight train away.”   - Fiona Mokry

“I came to Thailand for a few reasons: to replace my waiting job with meaningful work as a teacher, to grow as a human being, to make lifelong friends, and to see places and experience perspectives I never would have otherwise. I can honestly say that after only one semester, my reasons for coming to Thailand have been satisfied and grow richer as time passes. I feel myself changing, I love teaching, and I’ve made great friends.  As far as work goes, I haven’t once regretted choosing Super English over the many other agencies in Surat. Peter is clear and very hands off. If you’re struggling, he’ll call in the troops to subtly offer support and keep faith that you will adjust and become a great teacher, which you will. I’ve seen this in myself and others around me since I’ve been here.”   - Michael Masinter
